Pukka Creative offers drawing, painting, and writing lessons.
Who is Pukka Creative? Me.
My name is Lihi Ben Haim, I'm 39. I'm a writer, a painter, a guide, a teacher. I'm very passionate about sharing creativity and skill. I have been teaching and learning, how to paint and write, since 2009.
I live with my husband, my son, and our cat. We come from Jerusalem. We have been living in Switzerland since January 2009, first in Kanton Zurich, and now in Zug.
My story - Creative writing & Creativity * The beginning
I was 31 when I got to know my creative side, in a writing group back home in Jerusalem. Through the teacher I was introduced to the book “The Artist’s way” written by Julia Cameron http://www.theartistsway.com/about.
That was a difficult year for me, I was struggling to find work in my then-chosen profession: Editing. All along I was writing with a group once a week, and strongly effected by new discoveries about creativity and the possibilities it brings to writing, and to living.
My husband found a job in Zurich, and I was more then happy to change the atmosphere.
Leaving my mother tongue behind, I knew I will not have a Hebrew writing group in Zurich. I still wanted to find company for my creativity - knowing it needs company to stay alive.
I turned to drawing.
Starting to drawI have been drawing and painting intensively since I came to Zurich. For the first 1.5 years, I was taking many art workshops and private drawing lessons. During my intensive Art education period, I have had moments of doubts and difficulties, as well as breakthroughs.
My learning process and the impact of drawing on my life
I have learned, and learning, a lot about writing, drawing, and creativity. I've gained faith in my ability to acquire a new creative skill. Through a lot of practice, and finding the right teachers for me, I build up my talent, my skill, and my creative way of looking at the world. Learning to write and draw has allowed me to capture the world around me. Have my own way of expressing my experiences, the people and places around me, they are more of “my own” experiences this way. I see in a new intensified way.
Through practice I felt my skills cross a threshold from: "no talent" to: "very skilled". Now writing and drawing is like speaking or walking - It's a part of my basic skill-set. It's a transition I made by simply working on it, and I believe anyone can learn the skills if they want it badly enough.
